Client Profile
This project involved providing several interior design alternatives for an existing aged care facility. It was Inspired by the renowned Australia designer Florence Broadhurst, and her elegant, geometric floral and leaf designs, incorporating strong and vibrant colours. I wanted to create an environment that the residents could enjoy. A space that feels like a home, and not an institutional hospital. Each room has its own unique colour scheme and palette, whilst still complimenting the materiality used in the communal areas, and providing a consistent flow throughout the different spaces

Apartments
Residents can choose from two different colour schemes:
Apartment 1: has a cooler colour pallete, consisting of steel grey, charcoal, sky blue, mustard and crisp white. The pattern consists of leaf, geometric and floral patterns in a modern hand sketch /digital style.
Apartment 2: has a warmer colour pallete, consisting of medium tone browns, mauve, beige, white and silver highlights. The patterns also consist of leaf, geometric and floral patterns, but in a more traditional style. Both apartments have R10 vinyl wood look floors, coloured epoxy floors in the bathroom and Corian benchtops in the kitchenette. All finishes are appropriate for the elderly and commercial grade. The bathroom is also fitted with ambulant and accessible grab rails around the toilet and shower area, compliant with AS1428.1
Living / communal spaces
All living spaces have a R10 rubber floor with antibacterial properties.
Dining Room: Colour pallet consists on lime yellow, beige, burnt orange and steel grey in pastel tones, white Corian and walnut finishes. The high back seats and round tables have been selected for easy access and comfort.
Lounge Room: The colour pallet for this area is bright with bold tones. Sun yellow, forest green, deep peacock, white and walnut wood finishes. The tropical parrot wallpaper is the main feature of this space with modern basket weave light fittings and high back sofas.
Sitting Room: This area was designed using deeper tones, to provide a relaxed feel to the space: navy, burgundy, olive green and espresso brown. The velvet fabrics give the room a plush texture, and the knitted detail lights give the room that comfortable feel.
Staff areas: each zone also has its own simple, yet bold colour pallet. The staff break area is a little more fun and interesting with another bold and geometric wallpaper.
