Concept Statement
To design a space suitable for a young family with a large art collection in a Modern Style with Industrial influences.
Ground Floor:
The entry area has been designed like a small gallery with spaces on the walls, and glass cabinetry to show off all the clients artwork. The home office / guestroom is located at the front of the house with its open external door, allowing the owners to have people enter directly into the home office. The divider wall between the two spaces houses hidden compartments that can be used as a wardrobe for the guest, or as storage for the office. The living room has been partly closed off the give without windows to give a media room / home theatre feel to the space. The dining room is located next to the courtyard allowing the family to open the glass doors perfect for entertaining. The kitchen is located down the small hallway. The left side of the area is floor to ceiling window panels and is a real feature of the house.
Level 1:
The stairs open to a central area with access to the master bedroom, main bathroom, second bedroom and yoga room (third bedroom). The master bedroom has a small walk in robe and ensuite with small double sinks and a vanity. The second bedroom is simple, but functional for a tween with a built-in robe and desk. The yoga room has a unique feature wall with stretching ropes (see inspirational image) perfect for yoga and platies. The room also has a built-in robe which can be used to store yoga / sports equipment when not being used. The rooms also has a small Zen corner and balcony to help unwind from a stressful day. All furniture units in the house are custom and designed to maximise the small spaces.
